BPL T20 2015 Schedule, Teams, Players, Points Table

Bangladesh Premier League BPL T20 2015 will be starting on 20th November, 2015. This will be the third season of this heavily exciting tournament. The first and second season champion was Dhaka Gladiators. Can they win this one also and make a hat-trick? Let’s wait and see.

HISTORY OF BPL:

Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) was started first in 2012. The tournament was inspired by the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the first tournament, 6 franchises participated corresponding to the 6 divisions of Bangladesh. They were: Dhaka Gladiators, Duronto Rajshahi, Chittagong Kings, Barisal Burners, Khulna Royal Bengals and Sylhet Royals. The second season was even more exciting by the addition of another team Rangpur Riders. Mashrafe Mortaza led Dhaka Gladiators to glory on both occasions. Barisal Burners were the runners-up in 2012 and Chittagong Kings were the runners-up in 2013. BPL didn’t occur for more than 2 years. So, this season will be even more exciting one.

BPL-2 & MATCH FIXING:

The third season of BPL was postponed due to the match fixing issue done by some cricketers including one of the best talents of Bangladesh, Mohammad Ashraful. He was found guilty in fixing a match between Dhaka Gladiators and Chittagong Royals. ICC’s Anti-Corruption & Security Unit (ACSU)investigated the match and found some serious fixing issues in it. Mohammad Ashraful confessed in front of the media with a crying face. Still BCB banned Mohammad Ashraful for 8 years, which was reduced later to 5 years including 2 years of the pardonable ban. This means Mohammad Ashraful will be allowed to play the international matches from 13th August, 2016. He has been confirmed that he will not play the BPL 3.

BPL-3 TEAMS:

BPL T20 2015 will be held among 6 teams. There will be no team for Rajshahi and Khulna this time. Comilla is the new team for the BPL 3. Here are the teams for BPL T20 2015 along with their owners.

6 players has been selected by BCB as the Icon Players. They are representing 6 teams and most likely will be the captains of those teams. Meanwhile, the players are selected and their teams are selected by lottery. So, the Icon Cricketers for the BPL T20 2015 are:

BPL-3 PLAYERS AUCTION DATE:

There was no auction for the BPL 3 like the previous 2 seasons. This time, the players have been selected by lottery. The process was being called as “Players By Choice“. So, there has been no bidding for star players. They can get the maximum amount fixed by the BPL authority. BPL 3 players lottery was held on22nd October, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. The lottery was telecasted live on Channel 9 Bangladesh.

Earlier, BPL Governing Council announced the list of foreign players as well as local players who are interested in playing in this tournament. 196 cricketers from other countries were interested in playing in this exciting tournament.

Note that, each team can take a maximum of 12 foreign players in their squad and a maximum of 4 from them can play in a match.

BPL-3 PLAYERS PRICE:

Players price has been announced by BPL authority. The price range for the local and overseas players are given below:

LOCAL PLAYERS: 5,00,000-35,00,000/= BDT [6,500-45,500/= USD]

OVERSEAS PLAYERS: 30,000-70,000/= USD

There are 4 grades of players, selected by BPL Authority. The A grade players will get the maximum price of 70,000/= USD. B grade players will get 50,000/= USD while C and D grade players will get 40,000/= USD and 30,000/= USD respectively. Each franchise must take at least 3 players from this list.

Grade C = 36 players
Grade D = 107 players

However, there is an option for the franchises to buy players for any amount of money. But, the responsibility for any amount above 70,000/= USD will not be taken by BPL Authority. So, the players who are interested in playing for a franchise for money more than the fixed amount, will have to play BPL on their own risks. BPL Authority will ask those players to sign a form. The form will contain the statement that any amount above 70,000/= USD will not be paid by BPL Authority. Rather, the extra amount will be paid by the franchises themselves. In the previous season, many players were not given their full amount of money for a long time. Even now, some players have their money due. So, it will be better for the players if they don’t sign with any franchise in a price above the fixed rate.

However, some players have been already fixed for some franchise in a price above the fixed rate. BPL Governing Council has also not taken any initiative to stop this. They thought that it was needed for the acceptance of the tournament. According to them, a player like Shakib Al Hasan is more valuable than any player in the world. So, he must get more money than the others. Similarly, some foreign superstars like Chris Gayle, Shahid Afridi, Kumar Sangakkara also should be paid more than the others. BPL T20 2015 FIXTURE:

BPL T20 2015 will be held from 2oth November to 15th December this year. On 20th November, theopening ceremony will be held on the Mirpur National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka. The first matchwill be held on 22th November. Most of the matches will be held at Mirpur, Dhaka. Some of the matches will be held at Chittagong. The opening match and the final match will be held at Mirpur, Dhaka. The venues will be announced soon. The first match of the day will be started at 2 p.m. and will be ended at 5:20 p.m. The last match will be started at 6:45 p.m in the evening and continue till 10:05 p.m at night. All the timings given here are Bangladesh Standard Time (BST).

This time, the top 4 teams out of the 6 teams will play the semi-finals after playing the group matches. The 1st and 2nd teams will play the first semifinal match. The winner of this match will play the final match directly. The 3rd and the 4th teams will play the eliminator match. The winner of this match will have to play in the second semifinal match against the loser team of the first semifinal. The winner of the second semifinal will play the final match against the winner of the first semifinal match.

BPL-3 OPENING CEREMONY:

BPL T20 2015 Opening Ceremony will be held on 20th November, 2015 at Mirpur National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka, Bangladesh. There will be a lot of surprises for the spectators in that ceremony. Bangladeshi Bands LRB (Love Runs Blind) and Chirkutt along with renowned singers Runa Laila &Momtaz will perform in that opening ceremony. Indian actor Hrithik Roshan, actress JacquelineFernandez and singer Krishnakumar Kunnath (KK) will also perform in that stage. There will also be LASER show and fireworks. The budget of the ceremony has been fixed as 3,00,00,000/= BDT. The ceremony will start at 4 p.m and end at 10 p.m. There will be tickets of 300-1,000/= BDT for the spectators.

BPL-3 TICKET PRICES:

The ticket prices of BPL T20 2015 matches have been announced. Spectators will be able to watch 2 matches of the same day in only one ticket. The lowest price for the ticket has been announced as 200/= BDT. There are many types of tickets in BPL T20 2015. The highest price has been announced as10,000/= BDT. There are tickets of 500/= BDT and 1,000/= BDT too. The details of the ticket price will be updated soon.

The BPL 3 will be known as BRB Cables BPL 2015 as the BRB Cables has got the title sponsorship and stadium rights of this BPL.

BPL-3 LIVE TELECASTING TELEVISION CHANNELS:

Channel 9 from Bangladesh will telecast all the matches of BPL T20 2015. This time, even a single delivery will not be missed due to advertisements. BPL authority has already warned the Channel 9 team about this matter.
